What I Got For Christmas

In all honesty, I haven’t written one of these notes since my Elementary School days at St. Augustine’s on Bell Island.  However, seeing as I was the recipient of a remarkable outlay of generosity this Christmas season, I wanted to take a moment to share a word or two.

From my dearest friend, the completion of a dream I’ve had for 20 years.

From my brother/friend/Watson/arch-nemesis, an invitation to play and engage our histories.

From my PA, a daily reminder moving forward that she will be “on my back” about being all I can be.

From my Brother’s family, warmth for my body and soul.

And from my Father, a reminder that simplicity is an evergreen gift.

I don’t know what I did to be so fortunate this past year, but it was a reminder to be grateful.  As I often wryly say, every day that you’re on the right side of the Earth, it’s another day to get it right.

Have a flourishing new year.
